It doesn’t have to be permanent, though. There are various products available that can reduce or in some cases completely heal scarring. However, it can be confusing as to what products will work for your skin and which treatments are right for you. So, here are some recommendations.

The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance

A salicylic acid skin peel treatment, the Obagi Blue Peel Radiance (BPR) primarily treats acne scarring. However, it can also treat breakouts, fine lines, photodamage and uneven skin complexion.

Commonly used for bringing balance and refined proportion to the structural appearance of your face, augmentation is also an ideal treatment to successfully remove acne scars. The remedy involves injecting the face with collagen from other parts of the body in order to stimulate the body’s natural collagen to clear the scar.

Collagen augmentation would involve regular treatment – it is not a permanent solution. It has a projected effect of 6 months to 6 years, depending on how the body responds to the collagen, as well as the type injected.

Skin Boosters

Restylane Skin boosters are extremely effective at reducing the appearance of acne scarring and revitalising dehydrated skin.
Skin Boosters use Hyaluronic Acid, a substance naturally formed by the skin which increases hydration levels. This improves the skin surface texture and appearance through boosting Collagen and Elastin production in the deeper layers of the skin. Skinboosters invigorates the skin’s resistance and liveliness in a refined and gradual way.

Are Skin Boosters right for me?

Used for men and women of all skin types, Restylane Skin Boosters are versatile treatments typically used on the lower face area. A treatment popular with smokers, the Skin Boosters are commonly used to correct smokers’ lines. So, if your acne scars are widespread, then perhaps seeking an alternative treatment would be more appropriate.

Derma roller

The derma roller (alternatively called the derma stamp) looks a little bit like a small paint roller and is a device which is moved across the skin. The roller is covered with small needles which puncture the skin. It might sound painful, but the discomfort is mild. The needles trigger the healing process, allowing scar tissue to divide and break down, and for the skin to release substances which stimulate growth.

Deeper scars may not completely disappear, but it is possible to smooth them out.

Most types of acne scar (grade 1-3 scars) can be significantly improved with a course of derma roller treatments.

Do not derma roll if your acne is active. Skin needling can spread bacteria and trigger a cystic breakout.
